Acrylic Mediums Galeria | WINSOR & NEWTON

 Mediums provide infinite control with acrylic colors. Mediums control transparency, viscosity and sheen, while varnishes offer protection and the finish sheen of the painting.

Acrylic Extender

A highly economical medium, Galeria Extender increases the volume of paint and maintains opacity. Colour will dry to a matt finish. A great product for those with limited budgets.

Structure Gel

Add to acrylic colour to create high peak retention. Smooth and flexible. Provides a gloss finish with good clarity.

Flexible Modelling Paste

A lighter-weight modeling paste for use on canvas (to minimize sagging). Finely textured with a soft sculptural consistency. Suitable for building multiple layers. Matt finish. May be over-painted. Colour may be added directly to modeling pastes (note that colour will become lighter and more "chalky" and the resulting paste with have reduced body).

Heavy Carvable Modelling Paste

This is the do-it-all version that is tough and fully "carvable". It remains flexible on a variety of surfaces. Suitable for multiple layers. Formulated to have the least effect on colour change from wet to dry. May be overpainted. Colour may be added directly to modelling paste (note that colour will become lighter and more "chalky" and the resulting paste will have reduced body).

Black Lava Gel

A granular paste containing fine particles of black flint allowing the artist to achieve a heavier and more pronounced effect than can be achieved with Mineral Texture Gel.

Glass Beads Texture Gel

This medium is composed of small, spherical glass beads suspended in a thick, clear acrylic gel. When used with a transparent colour, the effects are arresting and jewel-like.

Sand Texture Gel

A finer and more consistent texture than the pumice in Mineral Texture Gel. Whilst natural or environmental sand can be added to acrylic colour, any impurities can seriously compromise the chemistry of the paint film. Galeria Sand Texture Gel has been formulated with refined and purified sand to ensure the most interesting possible texture as well as security and durability.
